Frequently Asked Questions

Which are the best hearing aids?
The ideal hearing aids are those you can put on in the morning and just get on with your day without having to think about them, adjust them or change batteries.

With today’s advanced technology this is possible for the vast majority, as designs have improved to offer various options for the user to be able to choose from to suit their own particular lifestyle. The technology is there now which enables the hearing aids to adjust automatically in every situation, whether quiet or noisy, without having to press buttons to account for challenging situations. Many instruments are now also available in re-chargeable versions, so you don’t have the need to carry around spare batteries in case the hearing aids start beeping during a family meal out or at the cinema. Of course, some will still like to make their own adjustments. This can be done by using an app on your smartphone without drawing attention to the fact that you’re wearing hearing aids; you’re just checking your messages.

Everyone’s hearing loss and lifestyle is different so those who need hearing aids will be offered a choice of instruments according to what is suitable for them. So ultimately the answer to the question is ‘it depends’. The only way to find out what are the best hearing aids for you is to have a full hearing assessment so that the audiologist and you will know what is needed and you will have the right information on which to base your decision.

How long does the test take?
Every appointment is different, but an initial appointment will take between 60 to 90 minutes. This allows time to discuss the difficulties you are having, carry out a full hearing assessment, trying out hearing aids if appropriate and looking at the various options.

What’s involved?

Can I have digital?
The word ‘digital’ has led to much confusion. Digital relates to the way hearing aids treat sound in a way which allows the hearing aids to be programmed and re-programmed any number of times to provide the right amount of amplification where you need it. All modern hearing aids are digital. Older hearing aids were referred to as ‘analogue’ and weren’t that good in providing clarity.

Here's what our customers say...

I found the services provided by Hearnow to be first class. Paul was very professional and the micro-suction he performed instantly improved my hearing and relief from discomfort. It was great to have the treatment carried out in the comfort of my own home, without the need to travel to an appointment. Paul took the time to explain what was going to happen, as well as explaining after care advice.
I would not hesitate to recommend Hearnow to anyone.

Dear Paul
Thanks for sending the invoice and for your kind attention with my parents this morning — I really appreciate it. It must be a rewarding experience that of your profession: seeing the immediate change and people’s smile after they start hearing well again.
